Telemetry

Telemetry is defined as “the science and technology of automatic measurement and transmission
of data by wire, radio, or other means from remote sources to receiving stations for recording and
analysis”.  For many applications, telemetry can be used to collect data without human
supervision and arrive, unassisted, at the manager’s desk.

Remote monitoring of condition, location, temperature, humidity, fluid levels, velocity, and on/off
status are some examples.  It might be a truck reporting its location and condition, a reservoir
reporting how full it is, the temperature of a pallet of pharmaceuticals or the humidity in a field of
grapes.  ROI can help your company determine the areas that can be monitored without
supervision and help adapt the data collection, transmission, storage, and reporting to your needs.
